Homless Hotspots
In yesterday’s post, Wired.com revealed “The Damning Backstory Behind ‘Homeless Hotspots’ at SXSW“. People are understandably outraged at the idea that homeless people might be taken advantage of, however I’m not sure I feel that way about this particular situation. Are we becoming oversensitive? Is this really any different from an MBA with 15 years experience waiting tables because he’s been unemployed, or a teenager with a paper route because he’s not qualified to do anything else but still wants to earn money? Are we upset about the program itself, or the dystopian language on the T-shirts? Are we letting the sponsoring company’s potentially bad rep from a previous project get in the way of doing good this time? Or am I just reading this wrong…..thoughts?
